
Pilar NICOLÁS JIMÉNEZ pilar.nicolas@deusto.es She was born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in 1969.
She is licensed in Law by the Complutense University of Madrid and is a Doctor in Law by the University of Deusto. Her doctoral thesis was entitled “La protección jurídica de los datos genéticos personales”.
She is the research projects co-ordinator for the Inter-University Chair, BBVA Foundation Provincial Government of Biscay in Law and the Human Genome, University of Deusto, University of the Basque Country.
| | She teaches the course on “El Derecho y la Bioética ante el genoma humano” in alternate years at the School of Science of the University of the Basque Country and at the University of Deusto. She is a professor of the Bioethics Master at the Universities of the Basque Country, University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the University of La Laguna.
She is a member of the Counselling Board of the Instituto Roche Foundation for the Integral Health Solutions and of the Bioethics Committee of the Alcer Renal Foundation, as well as a member the editorial committee of several science reviews.
She has participated in different research project at the local, national and European levels on matters such as the legal protection of the genetic information, genetic counselling, the implementation of the Directive on the protection of data, the legal implications on the use of human biological samples and biobanks in scientific research and the fundamental rights and new settings of biomedicine.
She has spoken in numerous conferences in national and international forums and has published articles and chapters in monographs on diverse matters related to law and the biomedical sciences. |
