She is licensed in Law by the University of Deusto and is a Doctor in Law. She defended her doctoral thesis on la protección jurídica de las innovaciones biotecnológicas, published by editorial Comares (December 2003).

She has developed her research activity and teaching in several institutions, such as The Inter-University Chair BBVA Foundation – Provincial Government of Biscay in Law and the Human Genome University of Deusto-University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU – of which she is a science advisor-, at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia in its Centre in Madrid, at The Sheffield Institute of Biotechnological Law and Ethics of the University of Sheffield (United Kingdom). Likewise, she is a Profesor in several post-graduate courses.

She has joined Farmaindustria in 2006, to manage the Office of the Spanish Technological Platform of Innovative Medicine.

She has participated in numerous Congresses, Seminars, Conferences, Symposiums and Summer Courses at the national and international level both in Spain and Europe.

She has numerous publications on matters related to Biotechnology and Law.

She has been a member of several research projects both at the national as well as the European level that have been financed by several institutions, such as the Council of Europe, the European Commission and the University of the Basque Country.
